ENJOY GREAT EASTER DAYS OUT IN STAFFORDSHIRE
Explore Staffordshire this Easter and visit world-class theme parks, join Easter egg hunts in beautiful parks and gardens and have a go at painting china amongst the world's best pottery manufacturers.
For total family entertainment visit Drayton Manor Theme Park, near Tamworth. Be amongst the 1st to experience Thomas Land, a brand new attraction home to Thomas the Tank Engine and all his friends. Thomas Land features 12 rides based on Thomas & Friends™ characters, including Cranky the Crane, the Troublesome Trucks and Harold the Helicopter.
At the magical world of Alton Towers, there's a park full of nail biting rides and adventures for children of all sizes, as well as adrenalin addicted adults. With a brand new 18 hole adventure golf course, Caribbean lagoon-style Waterpark and luxury spa, there really is something for everyone.
Stoke-on-Trent is world famous for its pottery and no visit to the city would be complete without experiencing its factory tours, factory shops and many ceramic attractions, where you can have a go at throwing a pot, decorating and painting china, as well as visiting exhibitions and museum collections.
There's Easter fun for all the family with the National Trust at both Biddulph Grange Garden in Biddulph and Moseley Old Hall, near Wolverhampton. From the 21st to 23rd March the Easter Bunny Trail at Biddulph Grange Garden will take children on a tour of the world looking for clues in the unique gardens. From the 22nd to 24th March, children can take part in an Easter garden trail around Moseley Old Hall’s 17th century knot garden, then enjoy Easter treats and art activities in the tea-room.
There will be Easter Treasure Hunts, displays and shows at the Wolseley Centre, the headquarters of Staffordshire Wildlife Trust from 19th to 24th March. Set in 26 acres of former landscape gardens and ancestral home of the Wolseley family, the site boasts three lakes, a brook and a stretch of the River Trent, so there's plenty to keep the family entertained.
History will be brought to life at the Steaming Day at Claymills Pumping Station in Burton upon Trent on 23rd and 24th March. Visit this outstanding Victorian Industrial Monument, which houses four Beam Engines, five Lancashire Boilers and numerous other engines and artefacts and see demonstrations of the Steam Powered Workshop and the Blacksmith Steam Hammer.
There will be an Easter Extravaganza at the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum, in Lichfield from 21st March to 2nd April. Discover more about Easter customs across the continent, have a go at the Easter quiz and enter the Easter Egg design competition to win a giant egg.
The Vikings of Middle England will present their living history camp and battle displays at Tutbury Castle on 23rd and 24th March, as part of their 2008 grand season opening.
