Media invite to Clement Faugier’s production facility in the Rhone Valley

Porter Foods (www.porterfoods.co.uk), the gourmet food retailer and distributor, would like to invite 4-5 food journalists to visit Clément Faugier during the exciting harvest time to find out more about the deliciously exclusive chestnuts range available through Porter Foods in the UK.

Porter Foods distributes Clément Faugier’s chestnut products to the UK and has built up a long-standing relationship with leading retailers including Sainsbury’s as well as independent delicatessens and stores nationwide. The range includes the famous Marrons Glacés (candied chestnuts), sweetened chestnut spread, and whole chestnuts, which will be on everyone’s shopping list in December in time for Christmas and New Year celebrations. However, chestnuts are delicious eaten throughout the year and their versatility means they can be incorporated into a wide range of dishes. Porter Foods aims to increase awareness among ‘foodies’ in the UK about the potential of the Clément Faugier range all year round.

Chestnuts are still regarded as one of the rarest fruits to grow wild without the all too common reliance on pesticides. Peeling and cooking chestnuts is a time-consuming process, which Clément Faugier helps chefs and home-cooks avoid.

Since its establishment in 1882, Clément Faugier has refused to use any unnatural additives in its products. Minimal processing and a time-honoured recipe combine chestnuts, sugar, glucose syrup and natural vanilla flavouring to produce Marrons Glacés: the ultimate in French indulgence.

The strength of the entire Clément Faugier range is deep-rooted in its origins in The
Ardèche region in the Rhone Valley, south of France, situated between Lyon and
Avignon. The authenticity of the products is reflected in their superior taste nurtured in the wild but temperate land where the chestnuts originate.

We would like to hear from journalists (freelance or staff) interested in visiting The Ardèche region in late November (dates to be confirmed). We expect the trip to last two days/one night and it will be during the working week, so you can fit it around your schedule. We will fly from London to Lyon. A full itinerary will be available shortly. The chestnut harvest for this year runs for a couple of months from October, you’ll have the opportunity to speak to executives at Clément Faugier and Porter Foods, and of course taste some fresh chestnuts fresh from the harvest.

Please contact Helen Lewis at helen@foodanddrinktowers.co.uk if you are interested stating the publication you write for, whether you need editorial clearance for the feature (i.e. if you are a freelance and need to pitch the story to your editor), and in which issue you would be able to publish the story. For more info about Porter Foods please go to www.porterfoods.co.uk or request a media kit from Helen. For more info about Clément Faugier visit www.clementfaugier.fr.
