£9,000 diamond is highlight of Birmingham jewellery auction

A stunning £9,000 single stone diamond pendant is the highlight of an antique jewellery auction being held in Birmingham, UK, later this month.

Auctioneer Fellows & Sons has 970 lots up for sale from 10.30am on Thursday 18th October 2007.

It puts on up to eight antique and modern jewellery sales a year.

The highlight this time is lot 78, with a guide price of £7,500 to £9,000.

It is a single stone round brilliant diamond pendant.

The diamond is in a six claw setting.

Fellows’ gemmologists have closely examined the piece and say the diamond is 2.91 carats in weight.

It is also described as having a clarity of P1. That means it is bright and attractive.

While the sale is being held in Fellows’ modern auction rooms in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, UK, people will be able to bid for it from around the world.

Buyers can monitor the sale online and place bids for any of the antique or modern jewellery pieces in real time.

Managing partner Stephen Whittaker said: "An exquisite diamond such as this is bound to attract a lot of attention globally."
