ENFIELD GRAMMAR SCORE PLACE AT FINALS IN SCHOOLS FOOTBALL COMPETITION

ENFIELD GRAMMAR SCORE PLACE AT FINALS IN SCHOOLS FOOTBALL COMPETITION

A team of budding footballers from Enfield Grammar School in Middlesex have taken the footy pitch by storm in the regional finals of the ‘Minute Maid’ U13 Schools Cup, beating rival team Oaks Park School 2-0 at Leyton Orient FC.

Both teams were cheered on by over 400 supporters at the regional South East final held on the 22nd April, as the team from Enfield Grammar played their way into a place at the southern final to take place on 6th May back at Leyton Orient FC.

Gary Rose, Manager of Enfield Grammar said: “It’s been a great day out for the team and winning the game was just the icing on the cake. I thought the boys played really well, especially in the second half and it’s given them a real taste of what professionals go through on match days. Everything from the changing rooms, to the hospitality to the substitution process and now we are just looking forward to hopefully going all the way to the national final.”

The winning goals were scored either side of half time by Enfield Grammar players Sam Dixon and Jack Burke, taking the team to the Southern final which will decide who will make the national final at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on 16th May, where the overall winner of the Minute Maid U13 Schools Cup will be decided.

Over 40,000 children take part in the ‘Minute Maid’ U13 Schools Cup every year, in association with the English Schools Football Association (ESFA). The regional finalists are the culmination of 45 County cup knock out competitions across the UK, with the winning boys and girls teams from the North and South battling it out for the coveted title of ‘Minute Maid’ U13 Schools champions.
