Military commemorative brooches on sale at Birmingham auction

17th October 2007 – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Military commemorative brooches on sale at Birmingham auction

Four military commemorative brooches will be on sale at auction in Birmingham, UK, later this month.

They are among 970 lots at the antique and modern jewellery auction at Fellows & Sons in Birmingham, UK.

The antique jewellery sale is on Thursday 18th October 2007, starting at 10.30am.

There are also 100's of modern jewellery items up for sale.

The military items are:

•An Australian Commonwealth Military Forces pin with central crown on a sun ray design background, with blue enamel lettered sashes

•A silver Royal Artillery bar brooch with crown leading to blue enamel ribbon above and below. These two items together are valued at £50 to £80

•A 9 carat gold Air force brooch in an eagle and crown design

•A Worcestershire Firm brooch, again 9 carat gold. These two items are expected to sell for between £75 and £100

Fellows & Sons has invested heavily in virtual catalogues online.

Its technology allows buyers anywhere in the world to monitor real life sales in Birmingham, and make bids over the internet.

The firm’s managing partner Stephen Whittaker said: "There are many interesting items up for sale including these military brooches. We are looking forward to welcoming bidders both to the room and over the internet."
