Brand New Survey Results - UK in Meltdown and Too Tired for Christmas!
59% OF BRITS ARE TOO TIRED FOR CHRISTMAS
Christmas might be a time of festive cheer, but a staggering 29m adults in the UK* are facing the season of goodwill feeling under par, according to new research from Wassen Coenzyme Q10.
59% of the nation said they are tired at least once a day, and 1 in 5 said they are tired absolutely all of the time.
Nearly 66% (60%) of British people said they struggled to get out of bed in the morning with over a quarter (27%) saying they were deprived of sleep. 18% said that stress left them feeling exhausted, while a further 18% said that their busy lifestyles were the culprits.
When it comes to Christmas romancing, 45% said they put off sex due to a lack of energy. And 38% said that they declined invites to social events – particularly grim reading at a time of year when getting together is all the more important.
The top five activities people said they put on hold due to lack of energy were:
1. Housework / DIY (56%)
2. Sex (45%)
3. Cooking dinner (41%)
4. Social engagements (38%)
5. Getting up (38%)
And UK citizens are eating all the wrong things to get out of the slump! 37% rely on coffee and caffeinated drinks for an energy boost, with a further 37% opting for chocolate and 26% munching on sugary snacks.
A lack of exercise was a key culprit for feelings of lethargy, with only 11% of those polled getting 30 minutes’ exercise a day. 37% said they exercised less than once a week. Asked to name what they would do if they had more energy, 44% said they would take more exercise, 43% said they would be more social and 34% said they would have more sex.
Rita Stoffaneller from Wassen Coenzyme Q10 said: “The research clearly shows that over half of people in the UK are facing Christmas already burnt out, with many of them bypassing social gatherings altogether due to a lack of energy.
Getting enough sleep and exercise is vital to ensuring we function at our best, while making sure our diet is rich in essential vitamins and minerals is also important. Busy lifestyles mean we are more likely to be deficient in certain nutrients such as Coenzyme Q10 even though the supply of food is plentiful.”
A supplement such as Wassen Coenzyme Q10 with Vitamin E has been designed to provide the nutrients needed for more efficient energy production on a cellular level, essential for those leading a busy or hectic lifestyle.
Each of Wassen’s one-a-day tablets contains 10mg of Coenzyme Q10, which, in just one week, would mean we would have to eat more than 10.5kgs of broccoli, 30kgs of eggs, 2.3kgs of beef or 1.2kg of fresh sardines to get the equivalent energy boost. Now, who has the time to cook all of that, let alone eat it!?
Priced at around £5.45 for 30 capsules, Wassen Coenzyme Q10 + Vitamin E is available from Boots, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Holland & Barrett, independent pharmacies and health food stores. For more info visit www.wassen.com

Coenzyme Q10 Definition and Research:
1) Coenzyme Q10 assists in the production of ATP*, the body’s usable form of energy. If the body is unable to efficiently produce ATP, it is unable to function at its optimum level
2) A study published in the International Journal of Sports Medicine*** showed that feelings of vigour and energy increased over a two month period of Coenzyme Q10 supplementation
* Based on an adult population of 49 million
** Energy from food (glucose) is used to make ATP, which is then used as the body's major energy source to fuel all cellular reactions.
