ORGANICA CHOCOLATE BAR BOOSTS MONKEY BUSINESS

Independent family business, Venture Foods is introducing two organic chocolate bars that will directly boost the funds of The Monkey Sanctuary Trust, a Cornwall-based charity.

For every bar sold, Venture Foods has pledged 5% of the wholesale price to The Monkey Sanctuary Trust to help fund its valuable work of protecting primates, both here in the UK and in their natural habitats overseas. So what better way to satisfy your love of chocolate and salve your conscience? There are two bars to choose from:

Venture Food’s MD, Mike Batten, is pleased that his new chocolate bars will be raising much-needed funds for The Monkey Sanctuary Trust. Says Mike:

“It’s all about giving something back. The people at the Trust are doing brilliant work. They not only rescue primates from the UK pet trade, but work closely with other organisations on conservation projects in South America and elsewhere to protect the habitats of wild monkeys.”

Katie Hobbs, the Trust’s Fundraiser, is pleased by Mike’s initiative, commenting:
“It’s wonderful to have the support of a company that thinks along the same lines as the Trust. Venture Foods is concerned about environmental and ethical issues - these are naturally very important to us too. And having secure, on-going income from the chocolate sales will enable us to plan ahead, something that is often difficult for us to do.”

The Monkey Sanctuary Trust is a registered charity based at Looe in Cornwall that has been rescuing primates from the UK pet trade for over 40 years. The Trust strives to provide the primates in its care with an enriched and stimulating environment whilst not treating them as “pets” – they are encouraged to develop their natural skills and to learn to socialise with other monkeys, not with humans. As well as running an interactive education programme, the Trust continues to campaign to end the primate pet trade in the UK and works closely with other organisations to support conservation and rehabilitation projects overseas, aimed at keeping monkeys living free and wild in their forest homes. The Sanctuary at Looe is open to visitors between April and October and runs an adoption programme.
