HEADMASTER LAUNCHES NATIONAL HOMEWORK SITE
TIRED OF TRYING TO DO YOUR CHILDREN’S HOMEWORK?
If you’re one of the many parents stressed out by trying to keep up with your kids’ homework, salvation is at hand!
An independent school headmaster has been instrumental in setting up a new on-line tutorial service, which offers one-to-one help from some of the country’s best-qualified teachers.
The service – www.homework121.co.uk - differs from other curriculum support sites in that it offers answers to precisely the question asked – not something similar from a stock library of possible solutions.
Designed to be 100% safe for students, it is thought to be the only site of its kind where all tutors have all been checked and verified by the Criminal Records Bureau, ensuring that students will not be put at risk during their on-line learning.
Answers are available to questions on all A-level and GCSE subjects – although it may take a little longer to come up with replies to those which are more obscure!
The site, set up by Sussex school headmaster Toby Mullins, in conjunction with Frenchman Guillaume Perret, came about after the pair met last year while studying for the MBA together at the London Business School.
Mr Mullins, who has brought in a bank of tried and trusted teaching staff from around the UK to assist with answering students’ queries, said: “Our close links with the education sector means we have a unique insight into students’ needs and the resources to respond accordingly.
“The website does not set out to do students’ homework for them, but assist where necessary and point them in the right direction. It will be a lifeline for parents who struggle to keep up with today’s curriculum and their children’s homework.”
The site is manned every weekday evening from 4.30-9pm and on Saturdays from 9am to 11am, by trained teaching staff.
For a subscription of only £5.95 per week, or £19.95 per month. the whole family can have access to www.homework121.co.uk - a bargain for households with several school-age children!
Mr Mullins, head of the fee-paying Seaford College, near Petworth, West Sussex, said: “All the parents we have spoken to thus far have been thrilled and excited by the concept. It is like having a whole common room of teachers at your fingertips.
“One of the main reasons parents opt for independent education is to obtain the benefit of small classes and individual attention for their children. Homework121 makes that kind of personal, individual assistance, available to everyone who has access to the internet.”
He added: “Today’s generation has been brought up with computers and using the internet is second nature. Homework121 is designed to be both a useful resource for pupils – and their parents! – and to be fun at the same time.”
