Camden and Lewisham meet latest e-government compliance guidelines
Bristol, UK, 3rd May 2006 - Cintra UK Ltd, a leading supplier of e-government software solutions, has won contracts with two London Boroughs to use its Searchlight IPSV 2.0 (Integrated Public Sector Vocabulary) taxonomy management product.
Searchlight assists local authorities to reduce their costs and increase their overall efficiency by automatically classifying web content to the recently released IPSV 2.0 taxonomy, and to meet the ODPM’s priority service outcomes. Cintra estimates that around 80% of local authorities still do not comply with the existing IPSV thesaurus of terms that is constantly being added to.
By automating what was previously a labour intensive process, both London Boroughs will save significant amounts of person-hours, and deliver to the public more accessible, searchable and properly categorised web-based information. The advantage of SearchLight is that it classifies new content as soon as it is created and is compatible with the current IPSV 2.0 standard and beyond.
The London Borough of Camden, the lead site for the Aplaws+ (Accessible and Personalised Local Authority Websites) open source content management system will use Searchlight for the automatic classifying of the borough's web pages with the IPSV 2.0 metadata. Searchlight will be integrated into Aplaws+ and will be available to other authorities that use the popular open source CMS.
The London Borough of Lewisham has selected Searchlight after evaluating a number of IPSV Taxonomy products. After extensive trials, SearchLight will run within Lewisham's chosen CMS (Microsoft CMS). Searchlight will generate and apply IPSV 2.0 metadata for all pages on the Lewisham site; as new pages are created Searchlight will generate and apply new metadata as part of the on-going authoring process.
These two new contracts add to other recent wins with; LB Merton, Bracknell Forest BC (Borough Council), Basingstoke & Deane BC and Epping Forest DC, confirming Cintra's position as the de facto supplier of IPSV-based Taxonomy and Search solutions for the public sector.
