Motorised TV stands feature ambient backlighting

A new range of stands for flat panel TVs has been introduced by Erard. The five models in the Pratik range combine technological innovation with elegance and convenience.

The top of the range Pratik II Twist & Light can be remotely adjusted to provide the best viewing angle without viewers needing to get up from their seats. Its smooth, quiet running motors can raise or lower the screen and rotate it left or right by up to 25 degrees.

At the rear is a programmable ambient lighting panel with two banks of ultrabright multicoloured LEDs. This backlighting helps the TV blend into the room decor and improves the viewing environment, helping to reduce eye strain.

Another attractive feature is that cables can be kept tidily out of sight thanks to the inbuilt cable management system. The cavity in the rear supporting column is large enough to conceal the supply cables and connectors for the TV and peripherals.

As well as controlling the position of the stand, Erard's handheld Pilot Motion controller can operate the TV and up to three other home entertainment devices, such as DVD players or set-top boxes.

Suitable for LCD and plasma TVs, the Pratik range is based on Erard's new Motion Inside(R) concept, which offers an advanced combination of convenience, appearance and viewing experience.

"The new Pratik range has a high level of sophistication and adds to the viewing ambience," said Neil Kumar, marketing manager of UK distributors Hypex Electroniques. "The range is based on the results of Erard's ergonomic research into how people watch today's flat panel TVs."

Separate end stops for the left and right rotation of the screen can be programmed in, together with a preferred position, which is selectable from a single key on the remote control. To ensure safety, the motor stops automatically if the screen meets an obstruction while in motion.
