Spidery fright for mother’s day
A nightmare day for mums has been avoided after 100's of blooms were infested with spiders!
Thousands of roses and carnations were crawling with the eight-legged horrors. But mums across the country were spared their special Sunday scare when florists called in a secure disposal company.
The blighted blooms were sent to Biffa's secure waste and disposal facility in Birmingham, which soon sorted the spidery spectre.
Biffa manager David Graham said, “When the van delivering the flowers arrived, the driver looked terrified. In fact I have never seen a driver so keen to unload. After ushering him to safety and administering a recuperative cup of tea, we just got on with the job of destroying the lot.”
“Still, it was a shame to have to get rid all of those flowers just before Mother’s Day.” But surely you wouldn’t want to give them to your mum with all them spiders in, we asked. “God no!” He replied, “I would never do that to my mum, I was thinking of the mother in law!”
