Rainier PR launches RSS service to distribute client news
Rainier PR has launched an RSS service via its website for each of its clients. The free service provides an additional distribution channel for news and content for Rainier PR clients.
Rainier PR believes that over the next five to ten years RSS feeds will eliminate the need to distribute media information by e-mail enabling analysts and journalists to regain control of their inboxes. A journalist on an online publication typically receives 300 to 400 emails a day from PR sources.
Analysts and journalists, or indeed any other interested stakeholder, can subscribe to Rainier PR’s RSS feeds using a news aggregator or news reader such as Bloglines, Feedreader or Google Reader. This acts like a personal web mailbox and displays the latest content from sites as soon as it is published.
Rainier PR is responding ahead of the PR industry to the requests of leading business and technology journalists to be able to subscribe to RSS news feeds rather than receiving information by e-mail. By subscribing to an RSS feed, journalists can personalise their news stories more effectively by selecting to receive and review information from the company, field of technology or business that they are most interested in.
Leading multinational companies including Cisco and Intel have already embraced the technology for news announcements, but the PR community has been slow to adopt RSS.
“As a technology PR agency we are more aware of new communication channels than other sectors, but I’m still amazed that more firms aren’t taking advantage of RSS,” said Stephen Waddington, MD, Rainier PR. “As a communications channel, it allows agencies to get client news to journalists without clogging up their inboxes.”
Please visit www.rainierpr.co.uk/clients to subscribe to Rainier PR’s client RSS feeds. Rainier PR will add RSS feeds for its sister agencies Custard PR and Lighthouse PR within the next week.
