More than 20 Rolex watches up for auction in Birmingham
A number of genuine Rolex watches are being put up for auction in Birmingham, UK.
They’re one of the highlights of a specialist wrist and pocket watches sale at Fellows & Sons, in the city’s Jewellery Quarter.
The sale will start at 11am on Monday 22nd October 2007.
The highlight of the Rolex collection is a Platinum Oyster Perpetual Day-date, which could sell for as much as £15,000
But as managing partner Stephen Whittaker said, there are some more affordable ones too.
He said: "You can get hold of a lovely Rolex watch for as little as a couple of hundred pounds."
"Rolex sales are always lively events, as it is a very well known and desired brand and attracts a lot of collectors."
Some of the Rolex watches for sale include:
•A gentleman’s 18 carat gold Oyster Perpetual Day-Date automatic chronometer. It has a silver dial with gold tone index markers. Fellows have valued this watch at between £2,500 and £3,000
•A gentleman’s bi-colour Oyster Perpetual Datejust chronometer, from around 1961. It has a plastic face and stainless steel Jubilee bracelet. There are some scratches and wear marks, plus a crack on the face and a damaged bracelet. However it is still worth £500 to £700
•A lady’s 9 carat gold Precision mechanical dress watch. It is fitted with a 17 jewel movement, and has an integral bracelet with correct badge and hallmark. It is valued at £370 to £450
While the sale is happening at Fellows’ modern auction rooms in Birmingham, anyone across the world can listen to the auction and make live bids for the antique watches.
Fellows has invested significantly in online virtual catalogues and internet bidding technology.
