A dryer option for Glastonbury

June is upon us and the festival season is kicking off in true British weather style.

Weather reports sugguest that we're in a for a rainy month and with last year's Glastonbury being a wash-out, Safeguard is advising festival goers to opt for dryer means of accomodation - the trusty caravan.

FESTIVAL WEATHER-BEATERS

As sales of this year's Glastonbury tickets continue to dominate the headlines, organisers report an upsurge in the number of campers trading in their tents for a drier alternative.

The official Glastonbury website reports that they are providing more caravan and motorhome pitches to satisfy demand as music fans plan to beat the weather and take to the open road in campervans, motorhomes and caravans.

Last year's bad weather caused havoc to 1000's of campers, with post-festival reports telling tales of abandoned deluged tents and camp sites littered with pegs and debris.

As well as providing a shelter from the elements, caravans and motorhomes also cater for the security conscious. The kit bag of a modern day festival-goer contains more than just a kaftan and raffia mat with cameras, personal MP3 players, mini hi-fi systems, TV's and laptops travelling as standard for many.

Rita Sadler, head of Safeguard, the caravan and motorhome arm of insurance retailer Swinton Group warns festival goers who are using campervans, motorhomes or caravans to ensure they have adequate cover for their possessions. Safeguard's annual motorhome and caravan insurance policies include cover for personal contents of up to £3,000 for motorhomes and £5,000 for caravans (terms and conditions apply).

Rita says "Festivals like Glastonbury have been notoriously jinxed with bad weather, and campers are gradually wising up to the notion that canvas might not be the best option. Festival organisers across the UK are following in the footsteps of their European counterparts and increasing the number of caravan and motorhome pitches.

"The benefits of caravanning over camping at festivals are all too apparent when the bad weather hits, and having the facility to have a cup of tea and somewhere dry to sit when it's wet is always a bonus!"

Safeguard is also offering everyone who obtains a quote the chance to win one of six vehicles in their Safeguard Six prize draw. The diverse list of possible prizes ranges from the hugely popular Bailey Ranger caravan through to a brand new classic VW Type 2 campervan - and one lucky winner will be able to take delivery of their favourite - www.safeguardsix.co.uk for full details and terms.

Safeguard offers annual motorhome and caravan insurance, which provides cover for trips in the UK and Europe.
