Warm up your winter with Ginger Sensation Cake Mix

Food ingredients manufacturer, Macphie, has unveiled a new addition to its range of premium Sensations cake mixes. The new Ginger Sensation cake mix has a warm, spicy flavour and is packed with pieces of Australian crystallised ginger to give it a distinctive texture. It contains no artificial colours, flavours, preservatives or hydrogenated fats.

Macphie marketing manager, Liz Taylor, commented: “Targeted at consumers who love indulgent treats that are full of flavour, the Sensations cake mixes have become real stars in our cakes portfolio. we are excited about this new flavour, which is a twist on a classic. It is everything that a traditional ginger cake should be - moist, dark and sticky – but it also contains pieces of Australian crystallised ginger to give it extra flavour impact. The winter months are all about comfort food and it doesn’t get more comforting than muffins, slices or cake bars made from Ginger Sensation cake mix.”

The Sensations cake mixes range includes Lemon, Apple & Cinnamon, Chocolate & Orange. Each contains real fruit pieces that add a flavour burst and moistness to the crumb, when baked. Packed in 12.5kg bags, they require only the addition of oil and water to produce high quality loaf cakes, cup cakes, muffins and tray bakes.

According to Mintel, the UK market for cake and cake bars has increased by 7% in the last year to reach £1.52bn in 2007. 66% of consumers like to treat themselves from time to time and one third is prepared to pay more for premium cakes. Bakers should offer free samples beside their till to encourage trial and capitalise on impulse purchases, which accounts for 80% of bakery sales.
